Saving a lion from a snare set by poachers (see video below)

One of the main problems that wildlife faces in South Africa is poaching. One of the most used forms of poaching is through snares. The LEO Africa Team is committed to monitor and get visual of the monitored animals on a daily basis (lion, leopard, elephants, rhinos, cheetahs, hyenas and endangered species), either from the vehicle or on foot. Thanks to our dedication, we were able to discover this male lion who was stuck in a snare in time. Thankfully, the snare was around his belly and not his neck. As soon as he was found, we called a veterinarian and in less than one hour, the lion was darted, relocated to a safer area in the reserve and released. Thankfully, the snare didn’t leave any wounds on the animal, so there was no need to treat him further. Our speedy intervention was vital to save his life. We are extremely relieved and proud of the efficiency of our team!!!
